On December 2, 2024, Joyce Manor celebrated the 10th anniversary of their beloved album Never Hungover Again with an unforgettable sold-out show at the House of Blues in Anaheim. The band, just a short drive away from their hometown of Torrance, CA, kicked off the first night of their five-date anniversary tour with an energy-packed set.

With support from Algernon Cadwallader, Toys That Kill, and Smoking Data Guns, the crowd was more than excited for Joyce Manor’s headlining set. By 9:30 p.m., the crowd was moshing and the band wasted no time launching into their 27-song set starting with Never Hungover Again performing the album in full.

As the opening notes of “Christmas Card” rang out, the crowd was wild from the start, moshing and crowd-surfing throughout the night. Joyce Manor had the room in the palm of their hand, and they weren’t letting go. Every song, from the blistering pace of “Falling in Love Again” to the heart-wrenching “Heart Tattoo,” the band had the crowd screaming along, with their energy feeding back into the band’s performance.

In the middle of the set, frontman Barry Johnson took a playful detour, sharing the origin story of one of the night’s more infamous tracks, “Fuck Koalacaust.” With a smirk, he explained how the song's name was born out of a personal vendetta against an old friend who’d stolen a riff Johnson had written for an old project. That ex-friend started a band called Koalacaust, and Johnson borrowed back his riff, and gave it a name that would live in the bands history.

Johnson’s charisma and quick wit made for constant banter with the crowd. At one point, the chaos in the pit reached its peak when an enthusiastic crowd member somehow lost both shoes in the madness. “That happened to me once,” Johnson quipped with a grin, “at an Aquabats show ten years ago!” It was a small moment, but one that perfectly captured the lighthearted, inclusive atmosphere that has always defined Joyce Manor’s live shows.

Throughout the night, the band’s energy and genuine connection with their fans kept the crowd in overdrive. Joyce Manor’s anniversary show was a reminder of the band's unparalleled ability to capture the angst and joy of being young and restless. It was a celebration of Never Hungover Again and everything it still means to those who’ve carried it with them over the last decade.
