Young The Giant Rocks Hometown Show

Young The Giant rocked the night away as they performed their final show of the tour in their hometown of Irvine, CA, on August 19, 2023.

The American rock band, which formed in Irvine in 2004, was touring their latest album, American Bollywood. With supporting acts Milky Chance and Rosa Linn, the band performed their last show of their North America tour at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA.

Starting the night, both Rosa Linn and Milky Chance brought immense energy to the night. Coming all the way from Kassel, Germany, Milky Chance put on a mesmerizing performance with a set full of fan favorites and funky light visuals. They kept a high-energized performance throughout their entire set to get the crowd warmed up for Young The Giant.

Young The Giant hit the stage with a burst of energy, opening up with a video intro and their song "American Bollywood." All throughout Young The Giant’s set, they had videos in between songs that tagged along with the storyline of their tour. As the lights dawned throughout the night, fans sang along with the band as they played fan favorites such as "Cough Syrup," "Heat of the Summer," and "Superposition." Their stage visuals featured a giant disco ball inside a yellow flower and several light fixtures that went along with the beat of their music. Frontman Sameer Gadhia mentioned they opened this same venue six years ago, and they were happy to be back.

Halfway through their set, Gadhia shared some kind words with the crowd about his father, who was in the crowd. Gadhia dedicated “I Bite” to his father and mentioned how the song was about his father and how he’s his hero. Gadhia jokingly said it was easier to say to his father that he was his hero on stage in front of thousands of people instead of one-on-one.

Ending off the show, Young The Giant closed with "My Body," which got the entire venue up and dancing. It was a beautiful moment within the crowd to see everybody get out of their seats to jump around, sing the lyrics, and connect with one another through the love of music.

Young The Giant put on an astonishing final show in their hometown, and Irvine, CA, would love to welcome them back any time.
